Documented Results

For more than 20 years, Kevin Shaw has worked to strengthen the organizational, cultural, and relational factors that influence OPO performance. That experience has included leadership development, communication improvement, organizational culture, partnership development, and organization-wide performance initiatives.

MAP is the culmination of that experience — a structured, full-scale, in-person intervention designed to strengthen the organizational conditions that support OPO performance.

Overall Organ Authorization Rate

How the Results Were Measured

These results were generated through an organization-wide implementation of the MAP methodology, delivered by Kevin Shaw while serving at an OPO.

The pre-intervention figures represent the average organ authorization rates for the nine months preceding the intervention. The post-intervention figures represent the average organ authorization rates for the three months following completion of the program across the organization.

The intervention was delivered to the entire organization through five full-day cohorts.

What the Intervention Included

The program focused on the organizational factors that influence authorization performance, including: Leadership alignment, Organization-wide communication, Culture strengthening, Cross-department collaboration, Partnership development, and Consistent approaches to donor-family interactions. The intervention was designed to create greater alignment across the organization rather than focusing exclusively on the teams directly involved in authorization.

What the Results Demonstrate

The organ authorization improvements occurred following completion of the organization-wide intervention. The results provide a documented example of how structured organizational, cultural, and communication interventions can be associated with meaningful changes in authorization performance. The organization and underlying operational data are not identified because they are confidential. The figures presented above are drawn from the organization’s internal performance data.

From Experience to MAP

MAP brings together more than 20 years of experience working with the organizational, cultural, communication, and partnership factors that influence OPO performance. The program has evolved from that experience into a comprehensive intervention designed specifically for OPOs navigating today’s CMS environment.

MAP is designed to help OPOs strengthen organizational culture, align leadership and staff, improve communication and partnership, and create documented evidence of meaningful organizational improvement.

Why This Matters

PATH does not present MAP as a theoretical model. Its methodology is grounded in more than 20 years of OPO experience and includes a documented organization-wide implementation with measurable authorization results.

MAP represents the evolution of that experience into a structured program specifically designed for the challenges OPOs face today.
